The Last of US season 2 minor spoilers follow.
HBO has finally confirmed a release window for The Last of Us' return.
The first season of the Primetime Emmy Award-winning series concluded in March 2023, so fans have been waiting for news on season two's premiere.
HBO chairman Casey Bloys gave an update in an interview with Deadline, where he was asked when The Last of Us and The White Lotus would release their new episodes.
"Well, all I’ll say now, generally first half of the year. I expect them to be in the Emmy window," the executive said.

The Emmy Awards eligibility for next year officially started on June 1, 2024, and will run until May 31, 2025, so fans can expect The Last of Us to air before next summer.
There have been many encouraging updates on the production in the last several months, including director Neil Druckmann announcing in July that filming had wrapped in Vancouver.
"My time in Vancouver has come to an end," he wrote on Instagram. "I've had a wonderful time collaborating with some incredibly talented and kind cast and crew. Can't wait for y'all to see what we're cooking!"
The Last of Us season 2 is set to introduce some of the most iconic characters from the video game series, including Alien: Romulus star Isabela Merced as Ellie's love interest Dina.

Other newcomers for the second season include Beetlejuice Beetlejuice's Catherine O'Hara in a top-secret part and Jeffrey Wright reprising his role from the games as militia leader Isaac Dixon.
The Last of Us airs on HBO in the US, and on Sky Atlantic and streaming service NOW in the UK. Season 2 is in production.
