Latest update on A180 bridges scheme as road closure announced
The road underneath a major Grimsby bridge will need to be closed several times over the coming weeks while work take place.
Maintenance is needed to the underside of Cleethorpe Road flyover as part of the ongoing A180 bridges scheme. A North East Lincolnshire Council spokesperson said: "For safety reasons, while this work is being done, the road underneath the bridge needs to be closed off. The work will be done over several weekends so that there is no major impact to traffic in the area."
The first closure of Royal Street is set to take place this Saturday (September 14), between the junction with Prince Albert Gardens and Eastside Road. It will be shut from 8pm and reopen by 6am on Sunday morning.

This will be followed by more closures between the same times on subsequent Saturdays "for the next 3-6 weeks".
There will be a signed diversion in place which will take traffic via Lockhill Roundabout.
Meanwhile, it was previously announced that Gilbey Road flyover will be subject to a series of overnight closures which began earlier this week in order to replace a temporary bridge joint. This work is expected to be completed by Tuesday, September 24.
