The latest addition to the Mamma Mia cast is the OG of sequins and Spandex

In case you hadn’t heard, the second instalment of the all-singing, all-dancing Greek island ABBA romp hits cinemas today.

And as if Piers Brosnan’s croaky croon and Colin Firth in glittery Spandex weren’t enough to get us cracking open the ouzo, Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again has a mind-blowingly fabulous new addition to the line-up.

It’s Cher, people.

And, oh Mamma is she the star of the show, both sartorially and otherwise.

The ageless songstress makes the entrance to end all entrances in a white suit, carrying a white cane (a cane!) and wearing dark glasses.

Next she appears in a skin-tight bejewelled black velvet jumpsuit to sing a killer version of “Fernando” (watch the trailer below to see the full look) and, in both song and spangly jumpsuit-wearing abilities, gives the entire cast of ABBA a very serious run for their money.

When it came to her wardrobe choices, Cher is obviously a woman who knows her velvet from her velour as the jumpsuit, co-star Dominic Cooper explains, was actually her own.

“Cher had tried on the costumes and said, ‘No no, I don’t think that’s going to work for me’, and then she went, ‘but I’ve got something perfect’, and she pulled out her suitcase and pulled out this wonderful pair of Spandex-y tight pants with embroidered stars and beautiful sequins. She had come with this most gorgeous outfit. She was brilliant.”

Of course she had. Of course she was. She’s Cher.
