Lava Carrying 'Huge Blocks' Flows From Collapsed Cone of La Palma Volcano

The lava flow from La Palma’s Cumbre Vieja volcano carried large blocks down the hillside on October 9 after the partial collapse of the volcano’s cone.

The new lava flow destroyed the “few remaining buildings” in the northern part of Todoque, Involcan said.

Some 1,186 buildings have been destroyed by the volcano since it began erupting on September 19.
