Lawyers for Paris attacker Salah Abdeslam QUIT from defending him

The lawyers for Salah Abdeslam, the main suspect in last year’s deadly terrorist attacks in Paris, are no longer defending him.

Abdeslam has apparently refused to talk ever since he was transferred to France following his arrest in Brussels in March.

Now lawyers Frank Berton and Sven Mary have confirmed they will no longer be representing him as a result.

Mr Berton told BFM TV: “We said from the beginning… that if our client remained silent we would quit his defence”.

Mr Mary added: "The real victims of all of this are the victims of the Paris attacks, because they are entitled to this truth and they have the right to try to comprehend the incomprehensible.”

Investigators believe Abdeslam played a key role in planning the Paris attacks last November on restaurants, bars, the Stade de France and the Bataclan venue that saw 130 people killed.

ISIS later claimed responsibility for the deadly attacks.

Abdeslam is thought to have transported the attackers, although investigators are yet to determine his specific role.

His lawyers say that he does not want to be represented by anyone else.
