The Third Round of the League Cup kicks off on Tuesday night as the top seven sides from last season’s Premier League enter the competition for the first time.

With the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United all involved in European football this term, they – along with the rest of the English sides playing in both the Champions League and the Europa League – are handed a bye into the Third Round.

In London, all five of Arsenal, Chelsea, West Ham, Tottenham and Crystal Palace have been handed home ties, with new Eagles boss Roy Hodgson looking to get his first win since being appointed as Frank de Boer’s replacement, when they host Huddersfield on Tuesday.

Jose Mourinho’s United, the holders having beaten Southampton in last season’s final, have also been handed a home tie while their rivals Manchester City and Liverpool have been drawn away from home.

Aston Villa 0 Middlesbrough 2

Bournemouth 1 Brighton 0

Brentford 1 Norwich City 3

Bristol City 2 Stoke City 0

Burnley 2 Leeds United 2 (Leeds win 5-3 on penalties)

Crystal Palace 1 Huddersfield Town 0

Leicester City 2 Liverpool 0

This season’s competition, under the new sponsorship of Thai energy drink Carabao, has been tainted by controversy with the First and Third Round draws having been held in Asia, the latter having been scheduled for 4.15am BST, and all three draws so far having had a problem of sorts.

With that in mind, what are the EFL’s plans for the Fourth Round draw? Standard Sport takes you through all you need to know…

The EFL have confirmed that The Fourth Round draw has been brought back to English soil and will be held live at the Sky Sports studios in west London after the conclusion of the televised Manchester United v Burton Albion game on Wednesday night.

How can I follow it?

Unlike the Third Round draw, which fans were only able to follow via the competition’s Twitter account, Wednesday’s draw will be broadcast live on Sky Sports Football and Sky Sports Main Event, the same channels showing the game at Old Trafford.
