The League of Gentlemen specials have finished shooting and we might now know when we can see them.

Cinematographer Mattias Nyberg has teased on Instagram that, as expected, we'll be reunited with the quirky residents of Royston Vasey at Christmas, but no specific date has been given.

"That's a wrap on The League of Gentlemen! What a ride! 541 slates in 18 days. Exhausted but so happy with what we got – it's going to be dynamite. Royston Vasey will visit your screens at Christmas," he wrote.

A BBC spokesperson told Digital Spy that transmission dates have yet to be confirmed.

Earlier this month, we were given our first look at Tubbs and Edward back in action, with the iconic duo joined by The Walking Dead star David Morrissey.

We've also seen Reverend Bernice Woodall back in Royston Vasey and the world's worst vet Mr Chinnery who, unfortunately, doesn't seem to have had a career change since we last saw him.

The three new specials to mark the 20th anniversary of the cult comedy's debut on BBC Radio started filming last month, with Mark Gatiss, Reece Shearsmith, Steve Pemberton and Jeremy Dyson all proving they'll never leave Royston Vasey.

We still don't know exactly what the three specials will revolve around, but we're happy to just hang out with these characters again.

The League of Gentlemen returns to BBC Two at Christmas.
