League of Legends is adding two new skins to the PBE: Lancer Stratus Wukong and Badlands Baron Rumble. Coming off the meme-tastic Birdio and Pizza Delivery Sivir, these skins ask the question, “how can we make yordles and monkeys badass?” The answer is with heavy machinery and glowing armor.
Badlands Rumble is the first skin for the mecha-suited yordle since Super Galaxy Rumble in 2014. The skin pays homage to the Mad Max series, where cobbling together junk is the only way to survive. Rumble’s face mask is straight from the villain in Mad Max: Fury Road , turning Rumble from a sweetheart who just wants Tristana’s love into a despicable warlord. The rickety legs keeping his robot upright have been replaced by treads, allowing him to move over any difficult obstacle (that’s coded as a part of Summoner’s Rift). This does make his hit box slightly bigger, though I’ll have to see the skin in combat before I make any judgements.
The less interesting one of the pair, in my opinion, is Lancer Stratus Wukong. Joining the Lancer line with Hecarim and Blitzcrank, the monkey man is now an armored beacon of war. When he moves, his armor clunks, completely ruining his agility and swiftness. How are you supposed to turn invisible and confuse enemies with a decoy if they can hear you coming?
Lancer Stratus Wukong & Badlands Baron Rumble will come to the PBE later today and we will update this post with prices when they do. Expect to see these skins on the live server when League of Legends patch 8.7 drops in the next few weeks.
