League of Legends: NewJeans, HEARTSTEEL with EXO's BAEKHYUN, to headline Worlds 2023 Opening Ceremony
Some of the hottest names in Kpop and more will be gracing the stage of the biggest League of Legends tournament of the year.
The Grand Finals of the biggest League of Legends (LoL) event of the year is surely going to be grand, with some of the hottest names in Kpop and more gracing the stage for the LoL World Championship 2023 Opening Ceremony.
The Grand Finals will be taking place at the Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul on 19 November, at 5:00 PM KST (4:00 PM SGT). Before the games kick off in a battle to raise the Summoner’s Cup, popular Kpop girl group NewJeans, and HEARTSTEEL, along with its singers BAEKHYUN of EXO, Cal Scruby, Tobi Lou, and ØZI, will grace the stage to perform the newest LoL music hits by Riot Games Music.
HEARTSTEEL with BAEKHYUN, Cal Scruby, Tobi Lou, and ØZI to perform “PARANOIA”
Riot’s newest virtual pop group, HEARTSTEEL, featuring reimagined versions of LoL champions Kayn, Ezreal, Sett, Yone, K’Sante, and Aphelios, will also make an appearance on stage to sing the group’s first single, “PARANOIA.”
PARANOIA hit 4 million views on YouTube, less than 24 hours after its debut, and already has over 18 million streams on Spotify since then.
Of course, this means, with the fray are the artists behind HEARTSTEEL, including one of Kpop’s top vocalists, BAEKHYUNof EXO and SuperM, Los Angeles-based rapper Cal Scruby, Mandarin music producer and performer ØZI, and Nigerian contemporary music artist Tobi Lou.
HEARTSTEEL's debut promises an electrifying, action-packed performance that will attempt to seamlessly fuse reality with LoL fantasy.
This means we’re expecting Riot to pull all the stops to make AR versions of these champions on stage a reality, much like how they did with Riot’s own virtual KPop girl group, KDA, in 2018 with POP/STARS, or with Lil Nas X performing “Starwalkin”, and the massive Azir in last year’s Worlds Opening Ceremony (let’s hope the cameras focus on the right details this time).
NewJeans to perform “GODS”
Rising Kpop sensation, NewJeans, is all set to steal the show at the 2023 League of Legends World Championship with their anthem, 'GODS.'
NewJeans, renowned for hits such as “Supershy” and “Ditto,” continue to captivate global audiences with groundbreaking records.
They've managed to secure a spot on the Billboard Hot 100 in under six months since their debut, all while staying faithful to their unique musical style and innate charm.
“GODS”, the 2023 Worlds anthem by NewJeans garnered more than 37 million streams on Spotify since its release in October.
Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein will dazzle onstage and debut their specially designed NewJeans choreography, perfectly matching the song and the atmosphere to set the stage for two grand finalist teams vying for the Summoner’s Cup.
For now, teams are still fighting for their tournament lives to make it to the top, with the Quarterfinals concluding on Sunday (5 November) in a match between T1 and LNG, and the semifinals taking place on 11-12 November.
