At Least 15 Killed and 26 Injured in India Bus Crash

At least 15 people were killed and 26 injured on October 7 when a bus in Uttar Pradesh, India, collided with a truck.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted that he was “anguished” by the crash, and offered his condolences to the families of those who died.

Modi said 200,000 rupees ($2,674) would be issued to the next of kin of those killed, with the injured to receive 50,000 rupees.

Nine men, two women, and three children were among the dead, with one victim unidentified, according to The Times of India. The paper said the collision occurred as the truck swerved to avoid a cow.
