At least eight children and a security guard were killed in a school shooting in Belgrade on May 3, police in Serbia said. A teenage suspect was in custody.

The shooting took place at approximately 8 am at the Vladislav Ribnikar elementary school, police said. The suspect, a seventh-grader, was alleged to have used his father’s gun, police said.

Local media said the suspect was 14 years old.
