'Leaving fruit in your garden could end up costing you hundreds' - gardener warns
With autumn just around the corner, experts have claimed that our gardens could be destroyed unless we act quickly.
James Lewis, a gardening expert at MyBuilder.com, has warned that with autumn nearly upon us, many will notice rotten fruit on their lawns and failure to act could leave them in desperate need of repair, as well as owners facing steep costs.
James said: “It may seem like an unnecessary job to pick up fruit, but actually it can cost you a lot more time, energy, and even money, if you leave it."
He added: “Unpleasant outcomes, like the smell it can cause, are one thing - but attracting rats or causing the death of your tree is entirely another. Pick up the fruit and dispose of it in a compost heap well away from your home, or take it to the tip if needed. It will save you many potential problems if you do.”

Another consequence of the fallen fruit being left is the increased possibility of unwanted pests being attracted towards your home as they feed on the fruit, also enhancing the chances of bee and wasp stings.
Additionally, there is also a history of rotten fruit causing damage to nearby trees, as diseases such as fungi and bacteria spread around the garden causing huge damage. There have also been some instances in which fallen fruit has caused weed growth.
Garden owners have also been warned that while some of the issues caused by leaving the rotten fruits pose little more than a time-consuming cleaning task, other solutions can cost hundreds of pounds
Experts have claimed that the fruit should be picked up as soon as possible, as the problems arising from the rotten fruits will start to rapidly increase if left for a long period.
