Matt LeBlanc has revealed that he has not spoken to Chris Evans since the latter quit Top Gear, though hit back at reports that they did not get along on the show.

Evans left the revamped BBC show last July after just one six-episode series, leaving LeBlanc to present the new series with co-hosts Rory Reid and Chris Harris.

However, opening up about his relationship with Evans, the Friends star revealed that he hadn't heard of Evans' departure until it hit the press, and has not talked to him since.

"I did not know what was coming until I read that in the paper," LeBlanc told The Sun.

"And also I haven't heard from him since – which is his choice."

Digital Spy has reached out to Evans' representatives for comment.

Speculation was rife about the state of the pair's relationship on the show, though LeBlanc insisted that there were no problems.

"I saw the stories that we weren't getting along and there was a row between us, but we were fine," he continued.

"I liked Chris Evans. I think my schedule is tough, but he was doing a radio show every morning, and that was a lot to deal with.

"Maybe that was what it was – I honestly don't know."

In the new interview, LeBlanc also opened up about the controversial Cenotaph stunt while filming the last series early last year, in which Matt and a professional racing driver did donuts around the iconic war memorial in central London.

"I have never spoken about this publicly but the route was planned, it was signed off by all the appropriate authorities and we didn't veer off the call sheet," he explained.

"If we could go back, knowing what people's reactions would be, then I don't think we'd do it again.

"I certainly didn't mean to disrespect anything like that – a war memorial – and people did seem really upset by it and I apologise for that. It was absolutely unintentional. We were just making a car film."

The new series of Top Gear, which has just dropped a new trailer, will start on Sunday, March 5 at 8pm on BBC Two.
