He led police on 140mph chase but silly mistake led to his downfall
A driver hit speeds of 140mph during a police chase on the M6. Lewis Moore, from Neston, was behind the wheel of a blue Ford Fiesta ST on Monday, December 30.
The 34-year-old refused to stop for officers near junction 14 of the M6 on the northbound carriageway. Moore proceeded to reach speeds of 140mph and used the hard shoulder to undertake vehicles in his way.
He only came to a stop near junction 16 when the car ran out of fuel. Moore was sentenced to 24 weeks in prison after admitting dangerous driving, failing to stop when required by a constable, driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence and driving without insurance when he appeared at the North Staffordshire Justice Centre on Friday, January 24.

He was also disqualified from driving for 14 months. RCT officer, PC Kara Pilarczyk, said: “We are extremely grateful to the public who saw what was happening and gave officers plenty of space to work safely and detain the driver.”
