Leeds hour-by-hour weather forecast as heavy snow due to fall

Heavy snow is on its way to Leeds as a yellow weather warning has been put into place.

The Met Office's yellow weather warning covers the entire city, and will be in place from 7pm today until 10am tomorrow. The Met Office said: "A period of rain, sleet and snow will occur during Monday evening, overnight into Tuesday morning.

"The most likely scenario is for most of the snow to accumulate on hills, with 5 to 10 cm possible above 200 metres and perhaps as much as 15 to 20 cm above 300 metres. There is a small chance of snow settling at lower levels, where 5 to 10 cm would prove much more disruptive, but this remains very uncertain.

"As rain, sleet and snow clear on Tuesday morning, ice may form on untreated surfaces."

Due to this, there is a small chance of power cuts and the loss of phone services, as well as a small chance of pavements and cycle paths becoming impassable due to snow and ice. In addition, the Met Office warns that some rural communities could become cut off, with possible delays or cancellations on public transport.

There is also a slight chance of injuries due to icy services and a small chance of travel delays on roads.
