Captain Pascal Struijk insists it's "way too early" to be looking at the league table after helping Leeds United climb into the Championship automatic promotion places.

Struijk starred in the Whites' impressive 2-0 win over Sheffield United last night. Second half strikes from Struijk and substitute Mateo Joseph lifted United up to second in the standings and stretched their unbeaten run to five matches.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Struijk said: "No, it's way too early to start looking at the table. We just go game by game. Hopefully we win as many games as we can but the only way is up from here."

It was a one-sided Yorkshire derby as Leeds deservedly secured the local bragging rights after a dominant performance. Centre-back Struijk said: "It's massive. We knew it was going to be very tough. They had kept six clean sheets in a row and you don't do that unless you are solid defensively. It was a good thing that we broke them down today."

The Dutchman broke the deadlock in the 69th minute with an exquisite left foot half volley from a Joe Rothwell corner. It was the first time the Whites had scored from a dead ball situation in 21 matches, a run dating back from February.

"We work on it in training," said Struijk, who missed the whole of the second half of last season due to injury. "It doesn't always pay off but I think we have the highest first contact in the league so it was only going to be a matter of time before we scored one."
