Leeds United returned to a two-points-per-game average in the Championship with a dominant win over Coventry City. Wilfried Gnonto got the team off and running in the first half with an excellent, sidefooted finish into the top corner.

It was a half that Leeds controlled with six shots on target to Coventry's zero, but Ethan Ampadu did have to limp off with an injury. The second goal came early in the second half with Largie Ramazani feeding Jayden Bogle for his maiden Leeds strike.

Joel Piroe would ensure there was no comeback as he sealed the deal with his third goal in four appearances.

Leeds United (4-2-3-1)

1 Illan Meslier

Virtually a spectator as Leeds shut down Coventry all afternoon. Brilliant late save to deny Brandon Thomas-Asante a stunning consolation goal. Preserved the clean sheet. 7

2 Jayden Bogle

A maiden goal for the Whites. Took it really well in a position he took up all afternoon on the overlap, asking questions of the visitors. Had Ephron Mason-Clarke pretty well handled all game. 7

6 Joe Rodon

So little asked of him by the visitors. Ellis Simms was isolated and utterly nullified by both of the centre-backs. Rodon cruised through the game. 7

5 Pascal Struijk

Much like his defensive partner, Struijk barely had to get out of third gear in this match. Always kept the visitors at arm's length and never looked to be in any trouble. 7

3 Junior Firpo

Another assist for his collection. Thoroughly enjoyed his afternoon and offers such a good option down that left side on the overlap. Always seems to be there to provide an outlet and then decent delivery. 8

4 Ethan Ampadu (c)

Such a shame he had to limp off after jarring his leg in a glorious tackle on Ben Sheaf. Was very good before then too. Showed some penetration with his passes from deep. Good challenges and kept the team rock solid. 7

44 Ilia Gruev

Such an important part of the team. Can do everything in midfield, but, crucially, battles and scraps in the trenches too. Gives everything for the shirt. Didn't give the visitors anything in the middle and had some excellent passes into the final third too. 8

29 Wilfried Gnonto

Brilliant performance. A goal and an assist. Took the early goal with a classy finish and showed excellent movement to set up the third goal before the deft pass into Piroe. Coventry could not deal with him. 8

11 Brenden Aaronson

No goal or assist, but Aaronson had a really good all-round performance. From the start, he was applying pressure, winning the ball and bringing those cute passes into the final third the team needs from him in his position. 7

17 Largie Ramazani

A performance that showed he is on the right path already. Improving by the week and this was another step forward. Strength and work rate added to his beautiful technical skills. Perfectly judged assist and a regular menace around the box. 8

19 Mateo Joseph

Another afternoon without a goal while Piroe picked one up, but this was another hard-working display that helped the rest of the team around him. Had a couple of decent looks at goal from range, but too tricky to do much with them. 7

Substitutes

26 Karl Darlow

8 Joe Rothwell (on for Joseph 82min)

Late change to save legs. Went into the number 10 slot. N/A

9 Patrick Bamford

10 Joel Piroe (on for Ramazani 70min)

Another appearance and another goal. Joseph is still bringing plenty from the start, but this is some asset to have from the bench. 7

22 Ao Tanaka (on for Ampadu 40min)

Difficult circumstances to get parachuted into as the game approached the break, but improved after half-time. Outstanding vision and pass to find Gnonto before the third goal. All-round touch of class about him at close quarters. Intelligent. 8

25 Sam Byram (on for Firpo 82min)

Late change to save legs. N/A

30 Joe Gelhardt

33 Isaac Schmidt (on for Gnonto 82min)

Late change to save legs. N/A
