Leeds United are acutely aware of the threat Coventry City will pose at Elland Road today. The Sky Blues arrive in West Yorkshire on the back of just one win in six Championship matches.

But first-choice Whites shot-stopper Ilian Meslier is paying little attention to their poor start to the season and lowly league position. “It's a difficult team because even if they're in a bad position in the table, they're still a play-off team so it's difficult,” said the Frenchman.

“It's important not to underestimate them. It will be important to score pretty quick, make sure we keep a clean sheet and protect the three points to make Elland Road happy.

“We know we will travel a lot after Coventry so we just need to be prepared. Analyse the opponent as much as we can - although we know already how they will play because we faced them already. But it's just about taking it game after game, being very focused and taking three points for each game.”

Daniel Farke has spoken of his admiration for City manager Mark Robins, who is the country's third-longest serving boss. The Whites chief said: "I'm totally convinced of the quality of Mark. I always rate him as a top manager in this division.

"He has so much experience and when I judge what he's doing, he more or less always delivers in every season. He has developed this club into a club who always comes close to promotion to the Premier League. They've finished either in the top six – they were in the (2023) play-off final – or close to the top six."

Farke, whose side are currently sixth in the table, has multiple injury concerns heading into the clash. Late decisions will be made Pascal Struijk, Junior Firpo and Patrick Bamford. Struijk (adductor) is a major doubt and may not be risked but Firpo and Bamford are expected to be passed fit to play after recovering from minor knocks.

Manor Solomon (back), Daniel James (hamstring) and Max Wober (knee) remain unavailable for selection.
