A mediocre start to the season has raised questions about Daniel Farke's long-term Leeds United future. Supporters' frustrations are growing at Elland Road, with the Whites recording just two wins from their opening five Championship matches.

It is the second successive year where United have got off to a relatively slow start following a big squad rebuild. Farke, who steered the Whites to the play-off final last season, is acutely aware of the need to stay within touching distance of their promotion rivals.

Former United midfielder Carlton Palmer has called for patience, backing Farke to lead them to another 90-point haul this year. “Daniel Farke posted 90 points last season, which would have been good enough in any other season in any other time to see Leeds United promoted back to the Premier League," Palmer told Football League World.

“Obviously they fell short in the play-offs, and didn’t get promoted, but they had a lot to contend with last season, they’ve had a lot to contend with this season. Losing players that they’ve lost in [Archie] Gray, [Crysencio] Summerville, so it’s a right decision (to keep Farke).

“Patience is needed, I think he’ll post 90 points again, and I think Leeds will be there or thereabouts. What’s important is that Daniel Farke does get Leeds promoted this season because if they don’t they’ll be looking and saying he’s had the tools to do the job.

“It has been a bit tricky in terms of players leaving the club, especially when he came in late last season. But now they’ll be looking to kick on and get promotion this season, but definitely the right decision at this moment in time to keep Daniel Farke.”

Farke does have credit in the bank. His United record reads 33 wins from 61 matches in charge. He has overseen just 14 defeats and boasts an impressive win ratio of over 54 percent.

Next up for Farke's team is a trip to bottom-of-the-table Cardiff City tomorrow.
