Leeds United's eight-figure transfer windfall will have to wait a little longer to land

Interest in making Rasmus Kristensen’s loan a permanent switch at Eintracht Frankfurt seems to be there, but despite reports to the contrary this week, nothing has been decided in Germany. Leeds United’s right-back has made a superb impression on the Bundesliga outfit, but he has more hurdles to clear before his future is secured.

Timmo Hardung, the sporting director at Eintracht, has directly shut down any suggestion they will make Kristensen’s loan a permanent transfer imminently. With another seven months of his season-long loan to run, there seems little sense in committing to an eight-figure transfer fee now.

"Of course, we are considering what role he could play at Eintracht Frankfurt in the future and whether he can become part of the team, but we haven't decided anything yet," he told Fussball.news. “Rasmus has settled in very well with us. We are very happy he is here with us. I also think he really enjoys being here."

Kristensen has started every match for Frankfurt this season, en route to the third in the German top flight. After some tumultuous years with the Whites and Roma, this seems to be the steadiest path the 27-year-old has been on for a while.

The Dane is one of five players currently away from the Whites on loan this season. Jack Harrison and Sonny Perkins were out of the door before the end of June to Everton and Leyton Orient respectively.

Darko Gyabi and Sam Greenwood then found switches to Plymouth Argyle and Preston North End, respectively, in early July. Kristensen would have to wait until July 19 to finally get his loan, which was in his hands because of a clause in his contract at Elland Road.
