One of London’s most influential superclubs has announced a new roster of dance-music talent and a raft of improvements to mark its tenth birthday. Studio 338’s year-long celebrations have kicked off with hundreds of thousands of pounds’ worth of new sound and lighting systems while the months ahead will see the return of legendary party nights such as Sankeys and Space Ibiza.
“None of this would have been possible without the support of a very loyal set of ravers and music lovers, especially during the hard times,” says Dan Perrin, Studio 338’s creative director. “It feels like a time to reflect on that and reward everyone who has been on this journey alongside us with some very special parties and even more incredible dancefloor moments.”
The 2,400-capacity venue on the Greenwich Peninsula opened in 2014 as a niche house and techno club and quickly won a legion of fans for recreating the experience of an outdoor, under-the-stars Ibiza-style club with its terraced dancefloors and glass atrium. A devastating fire in 2016 and closure during the pandemic, when the dancefloor was transformed into a food bank, led the club to renovate its garden area and diversify its music programming.
“It feels like a real landmark reaching 10 years in London despite major setbacks such as fires and global pandemics,” Perrin says. “I see 2023 as the year when Studio 338 really ‘grows up’ and goes into a whole new phase for the next decade. We have a calendar which reflects all the diversity of London and includes everything from reggaeton to techno and live music, represented by a lot of the world’s biggest brands in their space.”
The celebrations begin on January 28 when Studio 338’s in-house club night Release hosts Davide Squillace, Leon, William Djoko, Hypoxia and Kira; read on to see what else is in store until the end of February.
