Legends Cher and Celine Dion steal the limelight at the Billboard Awards 2017

Cher was finally awarded her much deserved Icon Award at the 2017 Billboard Music Awards last night and as well as delivering an epic acceptance speech, she blew us away with an age-defying performance of her hits ‘If I Could Turn Back Time’ and ‘Believe’, making everyone forget that she is, in fact, an incredible 71 years old.

The singer stormed the stage in Las Vegas on May 21 in what was her first awards show performance in over 15 years and donned her famous black curly wig and leather jacket to sing her 80s hit, before switching to a diamond bikini and bleached locks for her 90s banger.

Unlike Madonna’s cringe-inducing performances when she dresses in barely there outfits, Cher had everyone’s support and the crowd were on their feet as she stunned them with energetic dance routines and a note perfect recital.

Accepting her Icon award on stage, the ‘If I Could Turn Back Time’ hitmaker said: “So, I’ve wanted to do what I do since I was four years-old. I’m 71 yesterday. And I can do a five-minute plank, okay? Just saying.”

She also thanked music industry legends Phil Spector and Dianne Warren and “a million other people” who she says helped her become a success.

The icon – born Cherilyn Sarkisian – praised her mum, who told her when she was young: “you’re not going to be the smartest, you’re not going to be the prettiest, you’re not going to be the most talented, but you’re going to be special.”

A previous recipient of the award who was there on the night was Celine Dion, and the Canadian legend was spotted getting everyone to sing along to Cher’s ‘Believe’ in the winners press room backstage at the ceremony.

Earlier in the night the star sang her hit ‘My Heart Will Go On’ made famous from the 1997 movie ‘Titanic’, and of course, she sounded amazing.

Celine even wore a white gown that had sleeves that rivaled the size of the actual Titanic…

The magical throwback performance brought the show’s co-host, Vanessa Hudgens, to tears.

With a night like that, fingers crossed there is plenty more to come from this pair of legends.
