The world's most expensive Lego brick costs £9000 and is made entirely out of gold

This is no ordinary Lego brick...

The gold brick comes in a rare and original display box

This isn't a normal Lego brick a child could play with.

While your average toy brick is likely to cost a few pennies, this 14-carat solid gold brick costs almost £9000 and is thought to be the most expensive in the world.

The 4x2 brick was given to loyal employees of Lego who had worked at the company for 25 years.

The gift was only given out for three years between 1979 and 1981 at the Hohenwestedt factory in Germany. It is not known how many of the gold bricks were given out.

The collector's item is on sale at 'Brick Envy' - an online store for Lego enthusiasts - for $14,450.
