The new Speed Champions set goes on sale early in 2020.
There are a lot of brilliant auto-themed Lego sets out there. Bugatti offers a Chiron Technic set, Land Rover has a Defender Technic set coming in 2020, too, and the current crop of the Speed Champions includes vehicles like the Ferrari F40, Mini Cooper, McLaren Senna, and Dodge Demon, among others. But Nissan's latest kit could leave us more broke than we already are.
Nisan will offer a GT-R Nismo Lego set beginning in 2020. Debuting as part of the Speed Champions set (meaning it won't be as technical as the larger Technic sets) with 298 individual elements, the Nissan and Lego designed the set to, "capture the authentic and intricate details of the life-size race car." Based on the images, we agree.
The Lego GT-R Nismo uses elements found on the life-sized, road-going model like Nissan's V-Motion grille, the red front splitter and side skirts, the carbon fibre-mimicking wheels, and the supercar's signature massive rear spoiler. It also adopts the same black-and-white Motul livery from the GT-R Nismo race car.
"The Nissan GT-R and the Lego brand are both renowned and loved by fans of all ages throughout the world, and we are honoured to be the first-ever Japanese car manufacturer to partner with the LEGO Group," Executive Officer and Vice President for Nissan, Asako Hoshino says.
The GT-R Nismo Lego kit doesn't have a price yet, but those interested in purchasing the real thing can take home a Nissan GT-R Nismo for £174,995. The life-sized version uses a twin-turbocharged 3.8-litre V6 producing 600 bhp. And the best part is, Nissan builds it for you.
