Youri Tielemans’ wonderstrike gave Leicester City FA Cup glory as they beat Chelsea 1-0 in a gripping final played in front of 21,000 fans.

Here’s how Brendan Rodgers’ side rated at Wembley...

Kasper Schmeichel 8

Was having one of his easier afternoons until called into action to deny Chilwell 15 minutes from time, then pulled off a stunner to deny Mount. A proud day as he led the club he has served so well for a decade out at Wembley and ended it a cup-winning captain.

Timothy Castagne 6

Started at right wing-back, filled in at right-sided centre-back after Evans’ departure and then ended the game on the opposite flank. That curbed his usual attacking threat but versatility was vital to team success.

Jonny Evans 5

His name on the teamsheet was a massive boost to a side that have been fragile in his absence but it was clearly a gamble and he lasted little more than half-an-hour before heel injury ended his final.

Caglar Soyuncu 7

Allowed to defend on front foot by Evans’ return as he pressed on to Mount. Sensibly, more reserved thereafter as part of a defence that gave Ziyech, Werner & Co. nothing. Just, just avoided playing Chilwell onside for disallowed goal.

Wesley Fofana 8

Huge responsibility on young shoulders to lead defence after Evans’ exit but capped magnificent debut season with assured cup final display.

Luke Thomas 7

Defended resolutely and looked to hit Vardy early with dangerous early balls into the channel. Forced off by head injury in typically-committed challenge.

Wilfred Ndidi 6

Bypassed too easily early on as he lost the battle against the man he has replaced in the Leicester midfield, N’Golo Kante, but improved after the break, laying platform for Tielemans to seize control.

Youri Tielemans 9 | Star man

Leicester’s best player by a distance. Had already stamped his authority on the game by the time he belted in a cup final winner for the ages. Sensational.

Ayoze Perez 5

Struggled to impose himself from an attacking sense but worked tirelessly before being replaced for final reargaurd action.

Kelechi Iheanacho 6

Looked a yard off the pace and posed none of the goal threat of recent months before being replaced by Maddison.

Jamie Vardy 7

Looked Leicester’s biggest threat but was superbly marshaled by Reece James. FA Cup glory - having played in every round of the competiton from the preliminaries - is the latest chapter in one of footbal’s great story.

Marc Albrighton (Evans 33’) 7

Brought into the action early by Evans’ injury and added threat down the right. Got away with being caught out for would-be leveller and now a Premier League and FA Cup hero with the club.

James Maddison (Iheanacho 68’) 5

Was being summoned to help unlock the door but role changed as Tielemans thumped in winner as he was getting stripped.

Wes Morgan (Thomas 82’) N/A

Brought on to help see off final Chelsea charge.

Hamza Choudhury (Perez 82’) N/A

Unused: Ward, Praet, Amartey, Ricardo, Mendy.
