Leicester City 'in the picture' with Southampton as Foxes linked with renewed interest from Portugal

Leicester City have been linked with renewed interest in Benfica’s Tiago Gouveia as well as teammate Florentino Luís.

The Foxes and fellow newly promoted Southampton are claimed to be “in the picture” to sign Gouveia, according to O Jogo. Former boss Enzo Maresca was linked with a loan move for the winger last summer. Since then the 23-year-old has played in 28 games last season, managing four goals and four assists. Gouveia is under contract until 2028.

The report claims that the Portuguese club have received interest from England for eight players, including the attacker Florentino Luís.

As well as Gouveia, the Foxes are also said to be looking at the option to sign Luís. It is claimed the 24-year-old midfielder is being ‘tempted’ by Steve Cooper’s side along with Everton and Fulham.

O Jogo state the possibility of Leicester and two other English clubs trying to sign Luís would be ‘high’ in this transfer window.
