Leicester City have not received any offers for Kasper Schmeichel amid interest from fellow Premier League club Chelsea, Claude Puel has said.

The Blues are believed to have added Schmeichel onto their shortlist of potential replacements for Thibaut Courtois, who has been linked with a move away to Real Madrid this summer.

Leicester bolstered their goalkeeping options with the acquisition of Danny Ward from Liverpool on Friday, but Puel insists he wants first-choice shot-stopper Schmeichel to remain at the King Power Stadium next season.

"I am not troubled about this," Puel told Sky Sports.

"Of course Kasper is a very important player for us. He had a very strong World Cup. We need Kasper, with his character, his performance and his consistency."

When then asked if Leicester had received any offers for Schmeichel, Puel said: "No. There is no problem with this. There is a lot of speculation at this moment, it is normal.

"I think he [Ward] can bring more competition to the squad and more possibilities. It is a good thing to have competition between players in the squad to develop desire.

"It gives good focus and concentration."
