Leicester pub the Sir Charles Napier has reopened after a "full makeover". The interior of the pub, in Glenfield Road, has had "a full refresh", and the entrance "has received a full renovation for the first time since the 1970s, allowing the venue to make a much-improved first impression to guests", a spokesperson for pub company Craft Union said.

They said the pub aimed to become "the go-to spot for live sport and pub sports in the city". "As part of the renovations, the Sir Charles Napier now features major sports channels, including Sky Sports and TNT Sports, allowing fans to catch every moment of the action," the spokesperson said.

The pub now has five, new, HD TV screens and a "newly installed advanced audio-visual system" which "amplifies the atmosphere", said the spokesperson.

Nicky Howen, operator of the Sir Charles Napier, said: "We can't wait to welcome back locals to our new look pub. Being a part of the Craft Union family marks an exciting new chapter for us. We believe the refurbishments have not only enhanced our warm and welcoming atmosphere but also strengthened the pub's community spirit, which was at the centre of our thoughts during the renovations."
