Leicester 0-2 Arsenal LIVE! Ramsdale save - Premier League result, match stream and latest updates today

Leicester vs Arsenal - LIVE!

Goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale was the star of the show as an improving Arsenal made it nine games unbeaten in all competitions with a 2-0 victory at Leicester City in the Premier League on Saturday.

Arsenal flew out of the traps at the King Power Stadium, taking a two-goal lead inside 18 minutes through Brazilian centre Gabriel Magalhaes and livewire Emile Smith-Rowe.

Leicester grew into the match after their laboured start and had several chances to get themselves back into the contest before half time, only to find Gunners keeper Ramsdale in inspired form.

Ramsdale’s leap to keep James Maddison’s free-kick out just before half time was a contender for save of the season, clawing the ball away as it seemed destined for the top corner in spectacular fashion.

After the break, Leicester continued to create chances which on another day they would have converted, but Ramsdale refused to be beaten, bailing his side out time and again to ensure a vital victory on Arsenal’s road to recovery.

A seventh win in that unbeaten run of nine means Arsenal climb to fifth in the standings, above Leicester who drop to 10th, with the rest of the Premier League teams still to play this weekend.

FT: Leicester 0-2 Arsenal

14:25 , Malik Ouzia

A superb result for the Gunners.

14:19 , Malik Ouzia

90 mins: A final Arsenal change as the clock runs down. Smith Rowe has another good afternoon’s work under his belt and Seal Kolasinac is on.

14:14 , Malik Ouzia

84 mins: Nicolas Pepe is on for the final six or seven minutes - Saka makes way.

14:12 , Malik Ouzia

82 mins: No one’s very happy with Michael Oliver here. He waves play on when Odegaard is clearly fouled, but then also doesn’t have the bottle to let Leicester continue when the Norwegian is still down a few seconds later.

Arsenal want a free-kick, Leicester want the chance to score.

14:09 , Malik Ouzia

79 mins: Despite that Barnes chance, it feels like Arsenal have weathered the storm a little bit here, starting to see a bit more of the ball.

That said, Martin Odegaard has struggled since coming on and he gives it away again.

14:04 , Malik Ouzia

74 mins: How’s this not crept in?

Again, it’s a cross from Tielemans on the right and this time it’s Barnes that gets a head to it but it drifts just wide.

Meanwhile, Vardy is in the book after catching White late as he presses.

14:00 , Malik Ouzia

70 mins: Superb save!

Schmeichel has spent most of the second half watching Ramsdale keep his teammates out but now the Dane is called into action as Aubameyang steals in round the back to connect with Smith Rowe’s deep corner. Good block with his feet because that would’ve sealed it.

13:59 , Malik Ouzia

69 mins: Arsenal want Jonny Evans on his way here as he gets too tight to Aubameyang and is rolled before hauling the forward down.

He is in on goal, but from a long way out and Michael Oliver decides yellow will do.

13:57 , Malik Ouzia

67 mins: Massive chance.

The best one Vardy’s had all afternoon as he escapes the attentions of White to connect with Tielemans’ cross but he gets too much on the header and powers it wide. Arsenal are living very dangerously.

Simon Collings is at the King Power

13:52 , Malik Ouzia

Unsurprisingly, Leicester are much better than they were in the first half. Arsenal on the back foot and they need to weather the storm for the next 10 minutes or so.

13:52 , Malik Ouzia

62 mins: He’s having an absolutely ridiculous game, Aaron Ramsdale.

Arsenal are right under the cosh and Barnes is the latest to break in on goal but again he’s denied by Ramsdale, who flies out at his feet.

13:49 , Malik Ouzia

59 mins: Terrific again from Ramsdale.

Vardy’s clever backheel puts Lookman away from a tight angle and the Arsenal ‘keeper spreads himself to keep out the substitute at his near post again.

13:47 , Malik Ouzia

58 mins: Mikel Arteta senses his team need to wrestle back a bit of control here. Martin Odegaard is on in place of Alexandre Lacazette.

13:45 , Malik Ouzia

55 mins: That’s close. Very close, in fact.

Lovely football from the home side and Thomas goes on the underlap as Barnes holds his width, finding room just inside the box to drill a yard wide of Ramsdale’s far post.

13:42 , Malik Ouzia

52 mins: Better from Leicester, though. Vardy runs into the channel and is lacking for support but manages to hook back to Barnes on the edge.

It’s a difficult chance that the Englishman has to take first time and it’s never troubling the goal.

13:39 , Malik Ouzia

49 mins: Momentum has swung Leicester’s way at the end of the first half but it’s Arsenal who seem to be back on the front foot at the start of this one, Evans making an excellent intervention to deny Smith Rowe.

KICK-OFF!

13:35 , Malik Ouzia

We are back underway...

13:34 , Malik Ouzia

Brendan Rodgers has seen enough. Harvey Barnes and Ademola Lookman are coming on, with Daniel Amartey and Kelechi Iheanacho making way, so there’ll be a change of shape, too.

Here’s how Gabriel opened the scoring...

13:28 , Malik Ouzia

13:24 , Malik Ouzia

I’ve just seen an angle of that Ramsdale save from the free-kick taker’s perspective. Maddison is away, he thinks he’s scored. Just incredible.

HT: Leicester 0-2 Arsenal

The Gunners flew out of the blocks and into a deserved two goal lead.

But the hosts have improved and but for a wonder-save from Ramsdale would have one back.

13:16 , Malik Ouzia

Not sure what I have just witnessed from Ramsdale there, but somehow Arsenal don’t concede. Stunning work from the goalkeeper, who is being serenaded by the away fans as I type.

13:15 , Malik Ouzia

43 mins: What. A. Save.

Incredible. Maddison curls it over the wall and it looks in all the way until Ramsdale somehow gets across to tip it onto the bar.

The ball drops to Evans, who tries to squirm it home but it’s hooked away on the line. Unbelievable from the ‘keeper.

13:14 , Malik Ouzia

42 mins: Now then, right as we approach half-time, Leicester have a free-kick in a cracking position. Ramsdale looks like he’s struggling with the sun, too, as he sets up his wall...

13:08 , Malik Ouzia

36 mins: Gabriel’s got himself on the scoresheet today already but he’s been absolutely immense at the other end as well. No signs of that injury that forced him off briefly earlier either.

13:03 , Malik Ouzia

31 mins: Leicester are growing into this now. Maddison finds a little pocket and looks to threat in Vardy but Tomiyasu nips in with a crucial sliding interception.

Simon Collings is at the King Power

13:00 , Malik Ouzia

Arsenal are on top here, but Arteta is still patrolling the touchline non-stop. He just jumped and yelled at the defence to push higher. He doesn’t want them sitting deep and inviting Leicester onto them.

13:00 , Malik Ouzia

28 mins: That’s more like it from the home side.

Iheanacho works a bit of space and lets fly 25 yards out. Ramsdale gets a touch on it to turn it round the post, though I’m not sure it would have quite curled back in time anyway.

12:55 , Malik Ouzia

24 mins: A bit of a concern for Arsenal is that Gabriel has just briefly gone off the pitch after needing a bit of treatment but he’s back on now. One to keep an eye one.

That’s four goals in seven games now for Emile Smith Rowe. Gareth Southgate names his next England squad on Thursday...

GOAL! Leicester 0-2 Arsenal | Emile Smith Rowe 18'

12:49 , Malik Ouzia

They’re rampant!

Leicester give the ball away on the edge of the Arsenal box and Party releases Saka down the right. He cuts back for Lacazette, who should probably shoot but feints and then is half-tackled.

It doesn’t matter though, because the ball breaks to Smith Rowe on the edge and he smashes home a second.

12:48 , Malik Ouzia

An excellent start from Arsenal, who are once again playing with the “handbrake off”. They need that second goal, though. Kill the game and don’t give Leicester a sniff.

12:48 , Malik Ouzia

16 mins: He looks such an exciting young player, does Nuno Tavares. Very raw, but exciting.

He goes on a cracking surge inside, beats two men and then slides out to Lacazette, whose low cross is deflected behind by Evans.

12:43 , Malik Ouzia

11 mins: Arsenal are purring here. Aubameyang tested Schmeichel with an effort from a tight angle straight after the goal and now has to deny Partey from range, too.

Who are you and what have you done with Arsenal? Another set-piece goal. Nico Jover’s work on training ground paying off.

GOAL! Leicester 0-1 Arsenal | Gabriel 5’

12:36 , Malik Ouzia

They have got that dream start now!

Saka is key again, whipping in a devilish corner to the near post and Gabriel is up to meet it and guides into the far side of the net.

12:33 , Malik Ouzia

1 min: Almost a dream start for Arsenal!

Saka bustles in off the right and plays a one-two with Lacazette. He’s in from a very tight angle and pokes across goal, where Amartey can only deflect towards his own goal-line but Schmeichel is there to keep it out.

KICK-OFF!

12:32 , Malik Ouzia

We are underway...

12:26 , Malik Ouzia

Right then, the teams are out at the King Power. Which of them will continue their recent resurgence?

Nketiah left out again

12:15 , Malik Ouzia

Eddie Nketiah was on the scoresheet for the Gunners in midweek but once again finds himself left out of a Premier League match day squad.

The young forward is out of contract at the end of the season and Mikel Arteta insists he wants to keep him at the club, but surely he needs to be playing football somewhere?

Mikel Arteta will be absolutely delighted with that quarter-final draw, given Sunderland were the only non-Premier League team left in the Carabao Cup.

Brendan Rodgers? Less so - Leicester are off to Anfield.

Arsenal team news

11:11 , Malik Ouzia

Arsenal’s preparations for today’s lunchtime Premier League clash have been hit by a stomach bug in the camp.

“It was a bit of sickness and feeling tummy aches and stuff like that,” said manager Mikel Arteta on Friday morning. “Hopefully, everybody will be okay.”

Arteta declined to name the players affected but Ben White is known to be among them, having been forced off with the illness during the Carabao Cup win over Leeds in midweek.

“He hasn’t trained yet so we’ll have to wait and see how he’s feeling today,” Arteta said of the £50m summer signing.

Left-back Kieran Tierney also faces a late fitness test on the ankle injury which kept him out of the victory over Aston Villa last Friday night.

“He’s progressing in training, so let’s see how he is today,” Arteta added. “He felt a bit better in the last few days but he wasn’t 100 per cent ready to start the last game.”

Standard Sport prediction

11:03 , Malik Ouzia

With Leicester shipping goals this season and Arsenal looking prolific, as well as rigid in defence, it’s not hard to imagine the away side running out winners in what would be a big statement.

Arsenal to win 2-0.

Leicester team news

10:48 , Malik Ouzia

Jamie Vardy is available for Leicester after returning to training, but the Foxes are still without Wilfred Ndidi, Wesley Fofana, Marc Albrighton and James Justin.
