Leicester's Christmas to come alive with orchestra performance of festive films

An orchestra is coming to Leicester to perform the music from festive film favourites. From the soaring melodies of Home Alone to the heart-warming music score of Love Actually, the performance will bring seasonal delights to young and old.

The 16-piece Christmas Orchestra will perform under the direction of conductor Patrick Bailey, who has previously led the Philharmonia Orchestra and Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. Mr Bailey has also broadcast on BBC Radio 3 and had his arrangements performed by BBC orchestras and the London Philharmonic Orchestra.

The orchestra's Leicester performance comes as part of a a nationwide tour and will feature seasonal classics and movie soundtracks. Audiences will hear music from films including The Holiday and The Nutcracker as well as sing-along classics alongside movie soundtracks from The Polar Express and The Muppet Christmas Carol.

Event organiser Matt Pooley said: "The Christmas Orchestra is all about soaking up the festive magic in a very unique fashion." He added: "Our incredibly talented orchestra, led by Patrick Bailey, delivers an immersive production that is complemented by a spectacular light show."

Limited tickets are left, with prices for the Leicester performance start from £19. Other tour dates include Bristol's St Mary Redcliffe Church on Thursday, November 21 and Southampton's Central Hall on Tuesday, December 17.
