Leicestershire Police officer who allegedly fought with children at park to face gross misconduct hearing

A Leicestershire Police officer who allegedly got into an argument with children at a county park has been called before a gross misconduct hearing. Pc Sarah Yendall allegedly got into the altercation at Halstead Road Playing Fields in Mountsorrel on Friday, October 27, 2023.

Leicestershire Police said she was off-duty at the time. Two children are believed to have been involved, the force added.

Pc Yendall is accused of showing “unwarranted behaviour” towards the children during the argument. This is said to have caused them “distress”.

She is further accused of failing to report the incident to the police force. If the claims are proven, they would amount to a breach of professional standards, Leicestershire Police said. Specifically, they would contravene the expected standards of authority, respect and courtesy, use of force, creditable conduct, and honesty and integrity.

The gross misconduct hearing has been organised for the coming weeks and is expected to last four days. Members of the public can attend by registering on the Leicestershire Police website.
