Leona Lewis has been unveiled as the headline act for the NSPCC's Christmas extravaganza, the Childline Merry Little Christmas concert.

For the first time ever, this year's event will take place virtually Thursday on 10 December, and Leona will be performing to help raise money for the charity.

"I'm thrilled to be supporting Childline's Merry Little Christmas event this year," she says. "Despite it being virtual, it will still be a fun-filled evening for the whole family and a great way to raise money for Childline.

"The world is currently a very uncertain place and it has impacted the lives of all children and some may not know who to turn to for help. This is why it is so important that Childline is here to support any young person who may be struggling."

Leona will be joined by magician Ben Hanlin, Britain's Got Talent finalists The D-Day Darlings and the D-Day Juniors, dance troupe West End Kids and BBC Young Chorister of the Year Anna Haestrup.

All money raised will go to Childline to help frontline staff and volunteers to help children over the Christmas period.

Dame Esther Rantzen, the charity's founder and patron adds, “Although this year has posed many challenges we hope Christmas will still be a magical time for many families. To get in the festive spirit we encourage you to enjoy Childline’s virtual Merry Little Christmas event.

“This event is also very important as it will help our Childline counsellors continue to listen to the worries of those young people who desperately need our help – even on Christmas Day.”

Get tickets for the event here. The event begins at 7pm, and General Admission costs £20 per household. An extra special VIP package is available for £45, and includes a selection of Christmas treats including Lindt chocolate and Aldi mince pies.
