Leonard Nimoy: Spock Actor's Poignant Tweets

Star Trek actor Leonard Nimoy's final tweets were full of fond reflection on a remarkable life as his mortal voyage neared its end.

Tinged with humour, many of the posts end with the acronym LLAP, a reference to the "live long and prosper" catchphrase of his character, Mr Spock.

On 23 February, Nimoy tweeted: "A life is like a garden. Perfect moments can be had, but not preserved, except in memory."

A day earlier he shared one of his own poems, which contains the line: "The miracle is this / The more we share / The more / We have".

Nimoy, who was suffering from lung disease , tweeted last month: "Don't smoke. I did. Wish I never had."

On 2 January the former serviceman said: "Dec. 3, 1955 I finished 2 years in US army. 60 years ago tomorrow ???!!!"

The actor also tweeted a picture of himself as a young soldier, commenting: "Call me Sarge".

On New Year's Eve, he tweeted: "So grateful for blessings. Wish the same to all."

"Blessed are the peacemakers," he said on Christmas Eve. "Heal the earth."

Last November he posted a photo of an old shooting schedule from the cult TV show, tweeting: "50 years ago today Star Trek begins filming 1st pilot. We have liftoff!!"
