Sierra Leone President Ernest Koroma was re-elected Friday after sweeping presidential polls with 58.7 percent of the vote, with his rival Julius Maada Bio garnering 37.4 percent, the electoral body said.

"I hereby certify that 1,314,881 votes were cast in favour of Ernest Koroma (who) has been duly elected president of the republic of Sierra Leone," said Christiana Thorpe, head of the National Election Commission. Bio scored 837,517, she said.
