Leonne Weeks: Second arrest after 16-year-old found dead on path

A 26-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender after a 16-year-old girl was found dead on a path.

Leonne Weeks' body was discovered near Lordens Hill in the Dinnington area of Rotherham on Monday morning.

This is the second arrest in the case, after an 18-year-old from Dinnington was detained on Monday night on suspicion of murder.

He remains in custody and is being questioned by South Yorkshire Police.

The teenager's body was discovered on an isolated footpath by a member of the public at about 10.55am on Monday.

Formal identification of the body will take place later on Wednesday.

Leonne's uncle, Danny Bowskill, has paid tribute to her on Facebook, saying: "Rest in peace my wonderful niece, never thought I would ever be writing this but you were and still are loved by so many.

"I'll be there for your dad and mum all the way. Fly high and I hope my mum was there to guide you every step of the way up there."

He also posted a YouTube video showing a cover of the pop song Dancing In The Sky as a musical tribute to his niece.

Just hours earlier he had posted an appeal to family and friends asking if anyone had seen Leonne after she failed to return home on Sunday evening.

A JustGiving page has since been set up by friends and family to raise money for the teenager's funeral.

Detectives have appealed for anyone who may have information about Leonne's death to call them on 101 quoting incident number 256 of 16 January.
