Leopard mauls antelope to death in middle of tourist safari camp

This dramatic footage shows the moment a leopard pounced on an antelope and mauled it to death - just feet away from visitors in a safari lodge.

The predator can be seen prowling from behind a rock before creeping up on its oblivious prey at Idube Game Reserve in South Africa's Kruger National Park.

As the leopard goes in for the kill, the antelope senses danger and makes a break for freedom.

But the female leopard leaps on to its back, drags it to the ground and sinks her teeth into its neck.

The video was taken by field guide Camz Engelbrecht close to row of lodges used to house visitors to the reserve.

As well as leopards and antelopes, the park is also home to rhinoceroses, elephants, lions and buffalo.

Kruger National Park covers an area of 7,523 square miles, making it one of the biggest game reserves in Africa.

It comprises nine different parks, including Idube Game Reserve, which is 24,000 acres.
