Yahoo News Lesley Manville's returning BBC drama confirms release date with trailer
Lesley Manville's acclaimed BBC drama series Sherwood has confirmed its second-season release date.
A trailer for the new episodes reveals that the six-part story will premiere on Sunday, August 25, on BBC One and the BBC iPlayer, before releasing episode two on Bank Holiday Monday (August 26).
The Crown's Lesley Manville and The Walking Dead's David Morrissey return for this present-day drama set in a community still deeply divided by the 1980s miners' strike.
The second season of Sherwood introduces two new families whose lives become entangled with the feared Sparrow clan — with gang warfare and old rivalries threatening them all.
At the same time, the newly elected Sheriff of Nottingham is trying to stop the opening of a new mine in the area, dangerously testing the fault lines that have kept the community divided for decades.

The second season brings back Sparrow family members Philip Jackson (Raised by Wolves), Perry Fitzpatrick (Line of Duty) and Lorraine Ashbourne (Bridgerton), alongside a host of newcomers.
New cast members include Aisling Loftus (A Discovery of Witches), Jorden Myrie (Bridgerton), Conor Deane (All Creatures Great and Small) and Bethany Asher (The Dumping Ground), among others.
Sherwood's second season will be directed by Clio Barnard (The Essex Serpent) and Tom George (This Country), with series creator James Graham (The Crown and Quiz) back for another outing.

Cast member Adeel Akhtar won the Best Supporting Actor prize at the BAFTA TV Awards for Sherwood's first season, and the show was also nominated for the Best Drama Series and Best Supporting Actress (Lesley Manville) categories.
Sherwood series two will premiere on Sunday, August 25, at 9pm on BBC iPlayer and BBC One, followed by episode two on Monday, August 26, at the same time. Episodes will continue weekly on Sundays and Mondays for three weeks.
