Today's (first) celebrity Twitter feud is between Leslie Jones and Perez Hilton, after the blogger tweeted his objections to one of her jokes.

The actress, comedian and SNL star recently completed a four-night stint at a New York comedy club, and decided to get topical and deal with the recent protests against Trump's presidency.

While the NY Times deemed the gig a "raucous, high-volume" set, it seems one of her jokes didn't go down too well with Perez Hilton.

After quotes from the set surfaced, the celebrity blogger challenged Leslie online, sparking an exchange of words between them.

Referencing the Black Lives Matter movement, Leslie said: "If I see another 45-year-old white woman from Williamsburg saying 'black lives matter', I'm going to punch you in the mouth. Stop doing that.

"Not one black woman out there. Black woman at home watching Housewives of Atlanta."

The joke caused a stir online, with Perez taking up the baton to tell Leslie he wasn't happy with the comments.

"Thankfully, Leslie is only speaking for herself," he said. "And her comedy is very unfunny here!

"I guess I don't find #BlackLivesMatter funny. I support it and seriously. The bit seems to alienate allies. Sad."

Leslie, who has endured her fair share of trolling in the past, responded to Perez's comments by explaining that the audience at the gig didn't deem the gag inappropriate when set in context.

"Boy bye y'all the only one offended," she said. "My audience who was there to hear The whole thing in context LOVED IT!

"See that's the joke right there. A white guy telling me how important black lives matter. You wasn't even there!"

With neither side backing down, the debate continued into the early hours of Sunday morning (February 26).

Eventually, Leslie ended the exchange of words by blocking Perez online, and the majority of Twitter seemed to be thrilled (not being biased, we scrolled.)

And it was Leslie who had the last word, clearing up her joke once and for all.
