One of Fox's most successful new series, the TV adaptation of Lethal Weapon, has been renewed for a second run.

A 22-episode second season will air in the US later this year, giving us more manly action scenes and shoot-outs than you can shake a stick at.

The series - based on the classic Mel Gibson and Danny Glover movie - will begin in the UK on March 3 at 9pm on ITV. It's the first US series to get a primetime spot on ITV since 2013, when The Americans debuted on the channel.

The series might be based on the 1980/90s films, but things have been given a modern twist - think fewer perms and mullets, more smartphones and actually convincing special effects.

Clayne Crawford and Damon Wayans Sr star as Martin Riggs and his straight-laced partner Roger Murtaugh in the show, which is the first of Fox's new dramas to receive the full go-ahead for a complete second season.

"Every week, it delivers a big, fun roller-coaster ride, but also remains touchingly human and genuinely emotional, and that's due to the chemistry that's developed not only between Damon Wayans and Clayne Crawford, but the entire cast," Fox's entertainment president David Madden gushed.

Fox has also renewed Empire, Lucifer, The Mick and The Simpsons (of course).
