Stephen Bates’s obituary of Sir Gerald Kaufman notes that as a student Kaufman was chairman of the Oxford University Labour Club. Ours was an alternative to Labour’s 1951 offering, with which we were both deeply dissatisfied. It was entitled Labour Believes in Socialism.
