Levees Fail in Northeast Arkansas

A levee failed in northeast Arkansas on Wednesday, May 3, triggering a flash flood emergency. The levee for the Black River near Pocahontas failed in the morning, according to a report.

Nine levees were breached in Randolph County, three of them categorized as major, the report said. Gov. Asa Hutchinson directed more resources to the area, including the National Guard.

Mandatory evacuations had been issued for the area on Monday and more than 500 evacuations had been completed since then. Credit: Twitter/tbhogs via Storyful
