Lewis Ferguson returns to Bologna training as ex-Aberdeen star in race for Champions League action
Former Aberdeen star Lewis Ferguson has delighted his teammates after making his return to training as his recovery from a knee injury continues.
The Bologna captain was ruled out of the Euros and missed the end of start of the new Serie A season, with the Scotland international battling to be back in time for his side's Champions League fixtures.
While he missed the goalless draw with Shakhtar Donetsk, there are still hopes in the I Rossoblu camp that he will be able to play his part in their European campaign.

The ex-Dons midfielder joined Bologna in summer 2022, and has been a big part of their recent success, breaking Aberdonian legend Denis Law's goal tally in the Italian top flight.
In an update to supporters, Bologna posted a video of their skipper returning to training and going through exercise drills on the pitch.

And his eagle-eyed teammates were thrilled to see him back on the grass, with Sam Beukema and Dan Ndoye watching on from the sidelines.

Zirkzee joined Manchester United earlier this summer, while Calafiori moved to fellow Premier League side Arsenal, scoring a stunning equaliser in their battling 2-2 draw with Manchester City last weekend.
Ferguson will now be looking ahead to their Champions League fixtures further down the line as he looks to make his first appearances in the competition.
Ties against Liverpool and Aston Villa look to be too soon for the Hamilton-born midfielder, but there are still enticing clashes on the horizon, including a battle with Borussia Dortmund and a visit from Benfica.
