Lewis Hamilton has warned Formula 1 bosses he could break the rules yet again at Sunday’s Russian Grand Prix in his anti-racism stance.

There were initial reports that the six-time world champion was going to be investigated by the sport’s authorities after he wore a top with the words ‘Arrest the Cops who Killed Breonna Taylor’ before they decided against taking any action.

New rules of what political protests, if any, are allowed will be outlined later today.

And Hamilton said: “I’ve heard that tomorrow they’ll come out with a new ruling of some sort, saying what you can and cannot do.

“I don’t know what they are going to do this weekend but lots of rules have been written for me over the years and that hasn’t stopped me. But what I will do is continue to try to work with Formula 1 and the FIA to make sure the messaging is right”

Hamilton has the chance to equal Michael Schumacher’s record of 91 grand prix victories this weekend but long-term rival Sebastian Vettel said it would be a sad day for the sport.

The Ferrari driver said: “It’s sad to see that he will break the record, which I’m quite sure he will, because in my head it belongs to Michael. But even after it belongs to Michael.

“On the other hand, I’m very happy for him because he deserves it. You don’t win with this amount of races by chance, so very happy for him.
