Lewisham Park: Murder detectives investigate after body found in south-east London

Murder detectives are investigating after a man’s body was found in a park in south-east London.

Lewisham Park was cordoned off as detectives scoured the scene, with the death described as “unexplained”.

Scotland Yard said the Homicide and Major Crime Command was assisting detectives from Lewisham CID with the investigation.

Police and paramedics were called to reports of an unresponsive man at Lewisham Park shortly before 6pm on Saturday.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A Met Police spokesman said: “Enquiries are ongoing to locate his next-of-kin. Formal identification is yet to take place.

“The death is currently being treated as unexplained.”

A post-mortem examination was scheduled to take place on Sunday.

No arrests have been made.
