Liverpool FC goalkeeper Alisson Becker was supported as he travelled back to a place close to his heart. The Brazilian is currently sidelined after he suffered a hamstring injury last month.

Head coach Arne Slot has confirmed the 32-year-old won't be able to return to action until after the upcoming International break. Alisson enjoyed a trip to Rome as he continued his recovery.

The goalkeeper lived in the city for two years when he played for Roma before making the move to Merseyside in 2018. In an interview with Gazzetto dell Sport in 2018, Alisson explained the emotional connection he formed with the Italian capital.

He said: "Leaving Roma was very difficult. I cried for a long time, along with my wife. We have to be honest; I made a professional decision, to move forward in my career, and Roma received a huge fee.

He added: "I made the decision to go to Liverpool with my head, but my heart was still full of tears anyway. I had two special years with Roma. My daughter was born there, I have a lot of friends there – even outside football.”

Alisson has fallen in love with his new surroundings in Merseyside as he enjoyed six trophy laden years with Liverpool. He told the official Liverpool FC site on the pre season tour about how much he continues to love his life in Liverpool.

He said: "The team, the supporters, the staff; everybody here, they are amazing. I love this place. I love being a Liverpool player and I want to give my all for the team to achieve our goals and go back to winning again."

Alisson has returned to Rome this week as his wife, Natalia, shared updates from the family's time in Italy. The couple made the journey with their three children Helena, Matteo and Rafael.

Rebeca Tavares took to the comments to praise the family after the update. The wife of former Reds midfielder, Fabinho, said: "Miss you."

Former Reds goalkeeping coach John Achterberg posted: "Have a great time all." The girlfriend of former Liverpool midfielder, Arthur Melo, commented: "Beautiful."

The Reds have maintained their excellent start to the season despite the injury to Alisson. Caoimhin Kelleher has stepped in and played superbly well as Arne Slot's team sit at the top of the Premier League table and the revamped Champions League group stage.
