LG's G5 — as interesting it may be with its modular design and host of accessories — was a flop. Now, the company is trying to redeem itself with a very different flagship phone, and it's likely to launch on Feb. 26, ahead of the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona.

We know this because we've just received an invite from the company. As is customary, the invite does not contain many details, except the place and the date. But a couple of hints make it quite obvious that this will be the G6 launch.

The invite shows the shape of a phone, and sports a tagline "See More, Play More," which is probably referring to the G6's new, 18:9 screen

Besides the fancy new screen, which has been officially confirmed by LG, the G6 is rumored to have a Snapdragon 835 and 6GB of RAM.

LG is also rumored to launch a new Android Wear watch at MWC — a category that was quite neglected last year — which should be a fancier, metal-cased variant of the LG G Watch R. We'll be there in Barcelona to cover the launch, so stay tuned for all the details.

The MWC, which officially starts Feb. 27 in Barcelona, is shaping to be very interesting this year. Huawei, Motorola and the new, new Nokia have already sent out invites for events around that date, and Samsung, HTC, and a few others are rumored to launch products there as well. With this year's CES being very timid in terms of flagship phone announcements, we expect all the phone makers to gather and bring their best gizmos to MWC.
