Liam Fox has stepped up to the plate as interim Hearts manager - with Lee Wallace and Angus Beith his assistants.

The Gorgie club parted ways with Steven Naismith today and opted to clear the decks completely with Gordon Forrest and Frankie McAvoy also departing. It's a fresh start after a dreadful opening to the season, with eight straight defeats following their opening day draw with Rangers. The process of finding their next permanent boss starts immediately with Derek McInnes, Stephen Robinson and Alex Neil the obvious early shouts.

The pending £10m investment from Tony Bloom, who would expect to have a major say in the matter if it is ratified before the next boss is named, adds another dimension to the hunt. In the meantime though it's B-team boss Fox who steps up. He's done a good job with the Jambos B side and had them second to East Kilbride in last season's Lowland League, and now takes charge of a senior team for the first time since his ill-fated stint at Dundee United came to an end in 2023.

His B-team assistant Beith steps up to join him, and so too does former Jambo Wallace, who is currently assistant coach with the u18 side in Gorgie. CEO Andrew McKinlay said: “The board met today to agree a way forward, and the process of identifying and hiring a new management team has already begun.

“In the interim, we welcome Liam, Angus and Lee to the first team and will give them all the backing they need, as I’m sure the supporters will, in order to turn around the present situation.

“Updates will be provided to supporters in due course but, in the meantime, I would ask our fans to continue their unrivalled backing of the team when we host Ross County at Tynecastle Park on Saturday as, together, we strive to take positive steps forward."
