Liam Gallagher to invite brother Noel to wedding - on mum's orders

Liam Gallagher will invite his brother to his wedding because their mother told him to, the star has said.

The former Oasis duo, who are almost as famous for rowing with one another as their music, are rarely seen together.

Speaking to the Sunday Mirror, twice-divorced Liam, 46, said he is marrying manager Debbie Gwyther next year and intends to have older brother Paul as best man.

He has also asked his 21-year-old daughter Molly Moorish, who he was reunited with last year, to be a bridesmaid.

The rocker told the paper: "Third time lucky.

"I'm ready to do it again. I’m buzzing more than her. This one’s going to be a big thing."

Talking about his brother, he said their mother "thinks Noel needs a f***ing clip. She says we're as bad as each other, but she knows I've put olive branches out."

He added: "He doesn’t really speak to her either... it's not a band thing. All of this stuff about us not speaking because of the band, it’s nothing to do with that.

"He obviously thinks he's cooler or better than us. But that would be hard because we are f***ing brilliant."

Nonetheless, Noel, he said, will be invited.

He told the paper: "Of course he will. My mam is like, 'You've got to invite him'.

"And I will. They'll get a little envelope through the door.

"They won't come… but you never know - like I said before, they go to the opening of anything so as soon as they open it, it'll be like, 'Come on Noel, get your Dermot O'Leary outfit on, we're going out'."

Describing his proposal to Ms Gwyther, 37, which took place during a holiday in Italy, he said: "We'd been talking about it for ages and Debbie was going, ‘I’m not too sure, I can’t be a***d’.

"The sun was coming down, we were having a drink and I went, 'Look, shall we do it?'

"And she’s like, 'Yeah, yeah, course'. I told my mam and me kids, she told her family, and everyone was buzzing."

Liam sent text messages to Ms Gwyther's father, his children and some of their friends to tell them the pair were getting married before his now-fiance had said yes.

Ms Gwyther said: "Liam asked for my dad's permission… in his own way. He texted him and said, 'I want you to know I’m marrying Debbie'.

"Then he messaged all the kids and our mates telling them we were getting married… before I'd even said yes."

The couple intend to wed in Italy in front of 150 friends and family.

Oasis, known for hits such as Wonderwall and Don't Look Back in Anger, sold more than 75 million records before their split in 2009, when Noel left the band following an argument with his brother.
