It’s 1996 all over again.

Not content with reliving the most mythologised nights in Britpop history with the release of a live album and a feature-length documentary, Liam Gallagher has unveiled plans to go one better: playing two live gigs at Knebworth next summer.

The shows on June 3 and 4 will be a landmark night for Liam — not only will they resurrect the spirit of those two Oasis gigs back in the Nineties, but they will also mark the biggest solo gigs he’s ever played.

Gallagher will be joined on the 4th by Kasabian, Michael Kiwanuka, Fat White Family and Goat Girl. And while his setlist will no doubt feature a number of Oasis classics, it’ll also surely give an airing to new material, with the release of Gallagher’s fourth solo album, C’mon You Know, set for May 27.

“I’m absolutely buzzing to announce that on June 4 2022 I’ll be playing Knebworth Park,” Gallagher said. “It’s gonna be biblical.”

Due to popular demand, a second date was added today (8th October) as tickets go on sale.

Speaking on Radio X, Gallagher added: ““I am excited. I mean, I’ve done it before and it was mega.

“And the beautiful thing about it is – obviously I can’t remember much of it – but I get the chance to do it again.”

While it seems highly unlikely that Gallagher will be joined in June by brother Noel — who recently named his price for a Oasis reunion at £100m — Liam has revealed that a song on his upcoming album is dedicated to his elder sibling.

The track, titled I Wish I Had More Power, is “a naughty little tune,” Gallagher explained, “but it’s lovely”. Make of that what you will.

More than two and a half million fans applied for tickets to see Oasis in Knebworth back in ‘96, and while demand is bound to be high for this latest show, there will be a way to get ahead of the pack.

Fans who pre-order the new album via the official Liam Gallagher website by 3pm on October 6 will receive access to a pre-sale for the Knebworth gig, which opens at 10am on October 7. Remaining tickets will then go on general sale on October 8 on Live Nation and Ticketmaster.
