Liam Hemsworth was not the first choice to play the role of Will Blakelee in The Last Song.

That might sound like blasphemy to fans of the movie, but the Australian star recently divulged in an interview with Today how he was brought in as an emergency replacement.

"That was the first job I got (in the US) and it was literally right at the end of my three-month visa," Hemsworth explained. "They cast another kid, and it didn't work out with him.

"My agent calls me like, whispering like, 'You've got to go to Disney right now. It's not working out with the other guy. You've got to go in and read with Miley again,'" the 29-year-old further recalled.

"I come in and everyone starts clapping like, 'We should have gone with you first!'".

The star of The Hunger Games franchise has now been with his The Last Song co-star Miley Cyrus pretty much since they made the film (eventually marrying last year), and the 'stars aligning' kind of theory is certainly not lost on Hemsworth.

He added: "It's sort of weird how it all comes together, and then 10 years later I'm here, married."
